Baker School Extended Day

Welcome to Baker School Extended Day!

For over 40 years the Baker School Extended Day Programs have provided a setting where children of different ages, interests, and abilities can grow and learn together. Our programs enrich and complement the regular school day, and are designed for children in kindergarten through grade 7 who are in need of care past the hours of the school day. Our goals are to aid in the social, emotional and physical development of children. We encourage our children to be creative, enjoy nature, to read and enjoy the world of books, and to become decision makers. We want our children to be able to unwind and relax from their school day, and pursue leisure activities of their choice.

We believe each child should feel Extended Day is a home base where they can feel safe and secure, and provided with the nurturing necessary for their age. We hope through our program each child can learn to be respectful to their peers and teachers, cooperative with all, and become caring, responsible individuals.

BSED is a private non-profit parent cooperative licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care of the State of Massachusetts.

What is BSED?

BSED is a safe and enriching space for children to spend their after school hours. Our K-7 Program runs from 2:30 until 6:00 Monday through Thursday and from 1:40 until 6:00 on Fridays. There are five group programs; Kindergarten, First Grade, Grades 2-3, Grades 4-5, and Grades 6-7. Schedules vary between groups but include recess, snack, homework or reading time, activity time and free play.

Where are we?

The Baker School Extended Day Programs are located in the Edith C. Baker School. The program operates out of two large spaces in the basement of the school. The two classrooms are located one above the other and can be accessed through the doors located at the parking lot entrance. We are fortunate to have access to the library, auditorium, cafeteria, multi-purpose room and gymnasium in the building and the playground areas, the sanctuary and town tennis courts adjacent to the school.

Who are the BSED teachers?

All of our teachers meet the EEC requirements set forth by the State of Massachusetts. We are also caring parents, musicians, artists, athletes and above all committed to helping children
