I’m new here, what do I need to know?

Where do I start?

    Welcome to the team! Make sure that you have filled out your W-4, signed your contract and signed up for health insurance if you need it. You will also need to fill out a CORI and SORI. Be sure that Janelle has your email address and phone number so she can get you set up with Procare and include you in staff correspondence. It is a good idea to get your team leader’s phone number, too.

  • Do next.

    Hope you’re settling in okay! Within a week, you should create a Professional Qualifications Registry (PQR) and get started on your StrongStart training (linked on the professional development page). You have 60 days to complete them, but the earlier the better. You will be contacted when your CORI is processed and you will need to make an appointment to be fingerprinted. If you have any questions about BSED, ask! Janelle and Kelsey are always willing to help and your team is full of decades of experience!

  • Keep doing.

    Throughout the year, all staff must complete 20 hours of professional development training, 6 of which should address special needs (some links to trainings are below). Your StrongStart trainings count! You should be planning and executing your own activities within a few weeks of beginning. Your team, our library, and the internet are great idea resources. Check our craft room, vault and snack room for supplies before you buy/request any materials. Please make sure you are planned and materials are ready to go ahead of time.
